What are Signal Extenders

BZBGEAR Wall Plate Extenders provide a sleek and professional solution for extending AV signals over long distances using a single CAT5e/6 cable. Each kit includes a stylish Decora-style wall plate transmitter and a compact receiver. Supporting HDMI, USB-C, and DisplayPort (with adapter), the transmitter converts signals to Ethernet, transmitting up to 164 ft (50m) for 4K@24 or 115 ft (35m) for 4K@60 4:4:4. The receiver then outputs the signal to the display via HDMI. With support for front panel source switching, IR control, and Power Over Cable (POC), installation is streamlined and clutter-free.

These wall plate extenders are ideal for home theaters, conference rooms, and professional AV environments. Whether flush-mounted into a table or wall, they offer high-speed video (up to 18Gbps via HDMI), broad audio format support, and full compliance with HDMI 2.0b, HDCP 2.2, and DisplayPort 1.2a standards.

Why should I choose a wall plate extender instead of a standard desktop HDMI extender for my conference room?

Wall plate extenders make your life a little more organized and it also reduces the chances for things to go wrong by getting unplugged or tampering. It also looks a lot more professional for environments like classrooms, meeting rooms, conferences etc.

Which wall plate extender is best for a modern classroom where teachers connect via both HDMI and USB-C?

For a classroom where a teacher is just looking to be able to have one HDMI and one USB-C device, the BG-EXH-50UWP-W is going to be the best option. This is a 4K 18Gbps device that will allow for the switching between the HDMI and USB-C device through a button on the wall plate itself. It also has an extra USB-C charging port!

Does a USB-C wall plate extender support both video transmission and laptop charging (Power Delivery) at the same time?

I don’t believe our USB-C ports charge unless it’s the stated charging port. Checking with Nathan.

How does "Auto-Switching" work on a wall plate, and is it reliable for multiple guest presenters?

Ours are manual switching.

Can I install an HDBaseT wall plate into a standard electrical box, or do I need a special mounting bracket?

Our HDBaseT wall plate and switcher combos come with a wall plate that will fit into a standard electrical box. For example our BG-EXH-70UWP-W will have no issue fitting into a standard electrical box!

Which wall plate extender is recommended for sending a 4K 60Hz signal to a projector mounted 150 feet away?

For sending a 4K@60Hz signal to a projector that is mounted 150ft away we’d recommend the BG-EXHD-50UWP-W. This unit will allow for both an HDMI and micro DisplayPort connection to be plugged in and swapped between through the source button on the wall plate.

Is it possible to power the wall plate receiver through the Ethernet cable (PoE) so I don't need a power outlet behind the TV?

All of our units are going to be power-over-cable! So that means that the receiver is powered through a power supply but it delivers power over the Cat cable to the transmitter.

Do these wall plates support USB passthrough for connecting an interactive whiteboard or a touch-screen display?

Ours do not.
