Choosing the Right Multiviewers
Multiviewers Awards
An HDMI multiviewer is fairly similar to exactly what it sounds like, it takes the HDMI sources that are plugged into it and allows you to have several or all of them up on one screen. This is quite different from a switcher because a switcher only allows you to switch between one input on your screen but does not allow for the showing of multiple on the screen at one time.
For something where you want to monitor four sources at 4K resolution, one of the best options is going to be our BG-UHD-MVS41A. The reason we recommend this product, especially for this use case, is that it gives you exactly four inputs but it’s a seamless switcher as well as a multiviewer. That means you can swap between showing all four sources on the display or just going with a single source on the display.
We do not have an 8K multiviewer.
This largely depends on the model of multiviewer you purchase from us. We offer several with large front panel buttons, remotes, IP and serial command.
Our BG-UHD-MVS41A is a seamless switcher and quad multiviewer. This model mixes the convenience of a switcher and multiviewer but also boasts audio de-embedding. That means you have plenty of freedom with what audio source you’d like to have playing.
For a professional broadcasting studio we’d recommend looking at the BG-MV41A-G2. This is a good unit that gives you a 4x1 switcher, scaler and multiviewer all in one. It’s a fairly simple and reliable HDMI unit that will allow you to monitor all your cameras in whatever configuration you’d like.
You certainly can use one for that! We actually have a three port multiviewer in our BG-UHM that you could use! The BG-UHM has two USB inputs and an HDMI input for a console for example. This will also give you the ability to swap between the sources and even do picture in picture if you wanted to!
For the most part you shouldn’t notice any real latency. The average is going to be less than a frame of latency that is introduced when using a multiviewer.
Our BG-UHD-MVS41A is a seamless switcher and quad viewer that also boasts audio de-embedding. This is a great unit if you want to have both a switcher and a multiviewer rolled into one, especially if you have a home theater system that you’d like to route the audio to!
Most of our units come with a remote control, we’d recommend that as your starting point. However some of them also have serial or IP control so if you’d like to get a bit more advanced you should look into those options as well.
