The best compact joystick controller for a small church or a school would be our BG-COMMANDER-JR. This is a robust and sturdy joystick controller that is perfect for small spaces and a limited budget. You still get all of the fine control and most of the features of our bigger joystick controllers, but it’s all rolled up into a small compact package.

Yes, our joystick controllers are brand agnostic, meaning that as long as they support IP or serial control then our joysticks will work with them. Take for example our BG-COMMANDER-G2, this unit is capable of talking to and controlling over 250 cameras. Not only that but it also boasts a 5” touch screen for intuitive menu navigation.

Generally for joystick controllers this is a fairly simple task. You get the camera shot framed exactly how you’d like it and then you press and hold one of the number buttons. Once that’s done you can hit that button again at any time to have the camera go to that preset shot.

Joystick controllers that have a built-in touchscreen offer more flexibility to their users. One of the biggest advantages is that you don’t have to remember which camera is which off the top of your head because each camera on the controller has a video preview so you can know exactly which you are choosing.

This just simply depends on your personal preference and the equipment you already have. Generally we would recommend IP-based just for simplicity as it means you can just have a single cable install for the joystick controller.

It also means that they have a video preview of each camera being controlled so they can just tap the camera they need to control instead of needing to remember which camera is which.

Joystick controllers are the ultimate physical interface between you and the camera. They are capable of far more than just zooming and moving the camera. You can change several camera settings like the iris, gain, white balance, the focus and way more. Our BG-COMMANDER-PRO is a great choice for this as it allows for all those functions to be done on the large touchscreen display as well as with physical buttons and knobs.

Assuming that the cameras in the video production studio are also NDI, yes. Not only does this give you a physical intuitive controller for the NDI cameras instead of a software based one, but it also gives you some convenience as well. One of the coolest things about NDI joystick controllers is that they can auto-detect and add the NDI cameras to the joystick controller.
