NDI
What is NDI?
NDI® (Network Device Interface) is an advanced technology that allows video, audio, and metadata to be transmitted over standard IP networks in real time. Developed by Vizrt, NDI simplifies live video production by enabling multiple video systems to communicate seamlessly over Ethernet without the need for dedicated cables.
With minimal latency and high-quality image transmission, NDI provides a flexible, cost-effective solution for video workflows. It supports full HD and 4K video resolutions, making it ideal for professional broadcasting, live streaming, and content creation.
NDI technology empowers users to build powerful and scalable production environments using their existing network infrastructure.
How It Works
NDI transmits high-quality video, audio, and control signals over standard IP networks, enabling devices to connect and share content easily without the need for specialized cabling.
Depending on the workflow requirements, NDI offers several transmission types:
Delivers the highest image quality with ultra-low latency. It requires more network bandwidth and is ideal for professional studio environments where maximum fidelity is critical.
The original compressed version of NDI, optimized for lower bandwidth usage while maintaining good video quality. Perfect for streaming and mobile production over constrained networks.
An improved generation of NDI|HX offering better image quality and reduced latency compared to the original HX. NDI|HX2 delivers smooth 4K or Full HD video streams using even more efficient compression, making it ideal for remote production, live streaming, and hybrid AV environments.
The latest evolution provides near full-bandwidth NDI visual quality with significantly lower bandwidth demands. NDI|HX3 is designed for professional environments that need a perfect balance between performance and network efficiency.
Each version supports auto-discovery of devices, easy integration, and seamless operation across a broad ecosystem of hardware and software tools.

Application Scenarios for BZBGEAR NDI Cameras
- Capture dynamic live events with smooth tracking of speakers, performers, or athletes without needing manual camera operators.
A 4K UHD auto-tracking PTZ camera featuring NDI|HX3 technology, offering versatile connectivity with HDMI 2.0, 12G-SDI, USB 2.0/3.0, and LAN outputs. Its advanced AI-powered Presenter and Zone Tracking modes ensure precise subject tracking, making it ideal for professional live streaming and broadcasting applications.
The example below demonstrates how you can set up a three-camera NDI configuration for live events with ease. All you need is CAT6 Ethernet cables, a PoE network switch, and a computer connected to the same network. To set it up, simply connect CAT cables from each camera to the network switch. If desired, you can also add a joystick controller and a production switcher for enhanced control and management. The joystick controller connects to the network switch using a CAT cable, while the production switcher requires HDMI connections from the cameras.
- Enable real-time video consultations, surgical broadcasting, or remote medical education with safe, clinical-grade equipment.
A medical-grade 4K PTZ camera with 30x optical zoom, night vision, and integrated stereo speakers/microphone, designed for telemedicine and healthcare environments. IEC 60601 certification ensures compliance with medical safety standards, while NDI|HX support allows seamless integration into existing IP networks.
In the example below, the BG-NUTRIX excels in a Surgical Observation and Medical Training environment. Seamlessly integrated into the network of the operating or training room, this camera delivers high-quality video and audio streaming via NDI, ensuring clear, real-time visuals for remote observers. Beyond live streaming, the BG-NUTRIX also offers local recording capabilities, allowing footage to be instantly saved to a Micro SD card for immediate review and secure archiving.
- Set up a cost-effective, high-quality multi-camera system for studios producing interviews, podcasts, shows, or live YouTube/Twitch content.
BG-ADAMO-4KND - A 4K UHD auto-tracking PTZ camera featuring NDI|HX3 technology, offering versatile connectivity with HDMI 2.0, 12G-SDI, USB 2.0/3.0, and LAN outputs. Its advanced AI-powered Presenter and Zone Tracking modes ensure precise subject tracking, making it ideal for professional live streaming and broadcasting applications.
BG-ADAMO-JRND - This Full HD 1080p PTZ camera supports NDI|HX3 and offers 12x, 20x, or 30x optical zoom options, catering to various production needs. With smooth PTZ functions, advanced image processing, and flexible connectivity (HDMI, 3G-SDI, USB 2.0/3.0, and LAN), it's well-suited for classrooms, houses of worship, and live event streaming.
The diagram below illustrates an expandable NDI setup designed for a small studio. This system features both the ADAMO-JRND and ADAMO-4KND cameras, utilizing NDI|HX3 technology. A single CAT cable from the network switch to each camera provides both power and video signal access over the network. Additionally, the cameras' HDMI outputs can be connected to our BG-Quadfusion-4K, which manages source switching for your content. The program signal can then be sent to the streaming computer via HDMI, while camera control is easily achieved using any of our joystick controllers through CAT cable connections.
