How to Set Up the BG-VPTZ10-BDL Camera Bundle
Included in the Bundle:
- 3 PTZ Cameras (BG-VPTZ-HSU3)
- 1 PTZ Joystick Controller (BG-COMMANDER)
- 1 Video Production Switcher (BG-HDVS42U)
- 1 Network Switch
- Camera Mounts

Step 1: Power and Network Your Cameras and Joystick Controller
1.1 Set Up the Network Switch
- Power Up: Connect your NetGear switch to a power source.
- Wireless Connection: If you are using a wireless network, ensure your router is connected to the switch.
1.2 Power and Network the Joystick Controller
- Power: Connect the joystick controller to the network switch using an Ethernet cable. The controller supports Power over Ethernet (PoE).
- Network Configuration:
- Access the setup menu and enable DHCP if your network supports it. Alternatively, assign a static IP address compatible with your network.
- Tip: To determine a suitable IP address if you are unsure what to assign your devices, check the IP scheme of your laptop/PC/Mac and choose an address within the same range.
1.3 Configure Camera Network Settings
For Windows Users:
- Connect the First Camera:
- Plug the first camera into the network switch using an Ethernet cable and wait for it to boot up.
- Change the Camera’s IP Address:
- The default IP address for BG-VPTZ cameras is 192.168.1.162. If your network uses a different IP range, temporarily adjust your laptop/PC/Mac’s IP settings to match the camera’s default.
- How to Change Your IP Address on Windows:
- Right-click the internet connection icon on your desktop and select “Open Network & Internet Settings.”
- Click “Change Adapter Options.”
- Right-click your connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet) and select “Properties.”
- Select “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)” and click “Properties.”
- Choose “Use the following IP address” and enter an IP address within the camera’s subnet (e.g., 192.168.1.200). Set Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0 and Default Gateway to 192.168.1.1.
- Click OK to apply and close the settings.
- Open your web browser and enter the camera’s IP address. Log in with the default credentials (username: admin, password: admin).
- Navigate to the camera’s network settings and change the IP address to an unused address within your network’s range. Set Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0 and Default Gateway to your router’s IP. Click Save.
- Important: After configuring the camera, revert your laptop’s IP settings to “Obtain an IP address automatically” and “Obtain DNS server address automatically.”
For Mac Users:
- Connect the First Camera:
- Plug the first camera into the network switch using an Ethernet cable and wait for it to boot up.
- Change the Camera’s IP Address:
- How to Change Your IP Address on a Mac:
- Click the internet connection icon at the upper right corner of the desktop and select “Network Preferences.”
- Highlight your network connection and select “Advanced.”
- Go to the TCP/IP tab, select “Manually” from the “Configure IPv4” drop-down menu.
- Enter a non-conflicting IP address within the camera’s subnet (e.g., 192.168.5.200). Set Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0 and Router to 192.168.5.1.
- Click OK to apply your settings and close the network properties screen.
- Open your web browser and enter the camera’s default IP address (192.168.5.163). Log in with the default credentials (username: admin, password: admin).
- Navigate to the camera’s network settings and change the IP address to an unused address within your network’s range (e.g., 192.168.20.186). Set Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0 and Default Gateway to your router’s IP. Enter DNS servers 8.8.8.8 (Preferred DNS) and 8.8.4.4 (Alternative DNS). Click Save.
- Important: After configuring the camera, return to “Configure IPv4” and select “Using DHCP.” Click Apply or OK to close all network-related screens.
- How to Change Your IP Address on a Mac:
- Add the Camera to the Joystick Controller:
- Use the joystick controller’s web GUI or setup menu to add the camera, using the IP VISCA protocol with VISCA port number 52381.
- Repeat the setup for additional cameras, ensuring each has a unique IP address.
Step 2: Set Up the Video Switcher
- Power the Video Switcher:
- Connect the video switcher to a power source using the provided adapter.
- Connect Cameras to the Video Switcher:
- Use HDMI cables to connect each camera to the video switcher.
- Connect the Video Switcher to Your Laptop/PC:
- Use a USB-C cable to connect the switcher to your laptop/PC. This will serve as the capture source for streaming.
- Troubleshooting Tip: If the capture source is not recognized, try a different USB-C cable or port on your laptop/PC.
- Note: To connect the switcher to its designated software, network the switcher via Ethernet and download the software from the BG-HDVS42U product page.

- Verify Connections: Ensure all cables are securely connected and all devices are powered on.
- Test Joystick Control: Confirm the joystick controller can control all cameras.
- Test Video Switcher: Verify that the switcher is receiving input from all connected cameras and that the capture source is functioning correctly.
